The temperature of circulating water in cooling towers shall be measured by a glass bar mercury thermometer with a scale of 0.1"C and a range of 0-50.0 or an electrical side thermometer of the same grade.
The water temperature at the inlet of the cooling tower should be measured in the pressure steel pipe. Therefore, the thermometer bushing should be pre-welded on the pipe, as shown in Fig. 2-2. The bushing is usually made of copper pipe or stainless steel tube with the wall thickness of 1 mm. During observation, a small amount of dry turbine oil can be installed in the casing for better heat transfer, and the amount of oil can swallow the mercury bulb of the thermometer. When reading, the thermometer is slightly lifted to make the reading exposed to the degree, and then quickly read. When reading, read the decimal first, and then read the whole number to reduce conditional errors.
After cooling, the water temperature is generally at the side of the open parts such as the gate of the backwater ditch and the filter net. If necessary, several side basins of observation points should be arranged in the collecting pool of the cooling tower. According to the needs of research experiments, a special water tank can be set up for measurement. In order to reduce the change of the indicator value when the thermometer reads out, the thermometer should be installed in the casing, the casing in the common reading range in the hole, that is, the formation of the "reading hole", before temperature measurement with the thermometer in the casing into the ditch, stay for about 5 minutes, and then lift the catheter quickly reading.
When the water temperature between the sprinkler plates must be measured in the research cooling tower experiment, the "fifty-point automatic lateral temperature meter" can be used.
